Announce: PESGraph 0.1
I just pushed out a working copy of PESGraph, a set of classes in Objective-C for modeling and dealing with graphs.  A working XCode project is included and its BSD (FWIW), so you know, gouge away. (if I shouldn’t include the XCode project in the release, please let me know.  I have no idea if thats a security issue…) It doesn’t do a ton, but what it does at least passes all the tests...

The Riptides – Tomorrow's Tears (Live) →
I found this live version of Tomorrow’s Tears on Spotify, and its even better than the previous, 7” version.  Even though he sounds tired singing it, and the keyboard sounds way worse, and the lead guitar riff doesn’t sound as tough, this version is fantastic. No joke, I think Tomorrow’s Tears might be the best guitar pop song ever written.  I honestly can’t think of...

The Pleasure Centers need a keyboard player!
We’ve got a show coming up in a few weeks and our main keyboard man (my excellent cousin) won’t be able to make it. Does anyone play keyboards, or know someone who does, who’d be interested in playing with us, either as a one time thing or maybe on an ongoing basis?

Drupal Tip: Authentication from multiple domains...
Short Version Set the $cookie_domain value in your sites/default/settings.php file to be “.<your domain>” (note the preceding period) Long Version If you have a Drupal site and you’re using Domain Access to feed data to multiple sub domains from a single install, you might have run into the problem of you’re authentication sessions not transferring over between...

annicka: i get a sick satisfaction from watching a person who just bought an absurdly fancy new bike update their facebook status about how they fell down multiple times because of their new clipless pedals (that they got two weeks ago). you can sniff at my bike because it’s not a custom crabon/tarck… I feel this exact same guilty pleasure every time I pass someone wearing a Italian...

The Rumpus Interview with David Jay, Star of the... →
I just found this post on Marginal Revolution and its really fascinating and shocking.  At different times in my life I’ve thought of my self, and described myself, as straight, gay, bi or uninterested.  I even said I was asexual in college for a while, and was only half joking. From reading this piece, I don’t think I feel the same way as David Jay.  I get as many bouts of “sex...

The Great Tripoli Uprising →
A piece about the Qaddafi’s overthrow by Juan Cole.  Its interesting, and I found it on Matthew Yglesias’s blog, but I just wanted to repost it because of this great line: [Quddafi’s rocket attack on protestors was] a futile piece of barbarity

Dinner Help
Quick, Internet folks, please help. I’m on the train back to the city. I’m getting into Union Station and am biking north west to Andersonville. What is the greatest / greasiest pizza by-the-slice place I can stop at one the way home that’s not more than 1-2 miles out of my way?

Dating
I’ve been on a couple dates recently and they all go “I will take your story and raise you some faux poignancy” Christ I am terrible at this!  I need to find some setting between goofy non-sequiturs and telling near strangers the shiet. Oh well, not all bad.  Met some nice dudes, drank some beer-os

FormBug is now on GitHub
Nothing mega, but as a part of my push to a) get more of my code publicly avaialble, b) get more comfortable with git, and c) get the JS in FormBug into a non-embarrassing state, I’ve moved FormBug over to GitHib.  I’ve also submitted an updated version (0.5.2) that runs on FF5.  Next step, refactor most / all of the JS into a much cleaner state

Some Unasked for Advice: Don't Install Lion
I installed Lion yesterday and its been nothing but trouble.  Regular freezes, the monitor blacking out and me having to put it to sleep and wake it back up to see anything, all sorts of squirly behavior.  With the exception of Mail, Snow Leopard and the shipped Apple apps were all rock solid for me.  After my upgrade, shaky shaky shaky. Even the parts that work well are not worth the $30 for the...

Corn Secrets
I don’t want to tell anyone how to live their life, and I don’t want this to become one of those blogs where a 27 year old guy goes on and on about his mother, but my mom gave me her greatest gift a couple of months ago: her recipe to cook corn on the cob in the microwave. Here it is: Put the corn on a damp paper towel in the microwave for a minute thirty.  Remove and eat. Thats...
